Prayers Against Spiritual Blindness
By Pinnacle Message
Vol. 2 — The Veil Over Their Eyes
“But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:14 (KJV)
Introduction:
There is a veil that covers the spiritual eyes of many, blinding them from seeing Christ in the Word and recognizing truth in their lives. This veil is not cloth, but a spiritual barrier caused by sin, pride, tradition, or unbelief. In this volume, we expose how veils form in the heart, how they keep people from revelation, and how prayer can tear them down through the power of Jesus Christ.
1. The Nature of the Veil
Paul, writing to the Corinthians, describes how the Jewish people could not see Christ in the Scriptures because of a spiritual veil over their hearts:
“But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:15 (KJV)
This veil blocks divine insight. It is a form of spiritual blindness that makes even the reading of God’s Word ineffective. Without Christ, the Scriptures become rituals instead of revelation.
2. The Heart is the Root
Spiritual blindness is not just a problem of the mind—it is rooted in the heart.
“This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”
— Mark 7:6 (KJV)
When our hearts are distant from God, our eyes cannot perceive His truth. Lip service without heart submission leads to veiled understanding. We must pray for heart revival to gain spiritual clarity.
3. God Allows Blindness as Judgment
There are moments in Scripture where God gives people over to blindness because of their stubbornness.
“God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day.”
— Romans 11:8 (KJV)
This spiritual slumber is a tragic state, where people no longer respond to conviction or truth. It calls for deep intercession and repentance.
4. The Breaking of the Veil
The good news is that Christ removes the veil.
“Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
When the heart turns to Jesus in humility, the spiritual veil is removed, and true sight is restored. This is why we must pray not only for understanding but for genuine conversion.
5. Enlightenment by the Spirit
Revelation comes not through intellect, but through the Holy Spirit.
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:10 (KJV)
Our prayers should include a cry for the Spirit of revelation. Only He can expose the hidden truths of God’s Word and reveal Christ in every passage.
6. The Word as Spiritual Light
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Without spiritual light, we walk in confusion. But God’s Word becomes a lamp when our eyes are opened to it. Praying the Scriptures with a teachable spirit turns the written word into living direction.
7. A Prayer to Remove the Veil
“Father, I come to You with a heart that longs to see. Remove every veil of pride, unbelief, and tradition that blinds my soul. Where I’ve been hardened, soften me. Where I’ve resisted truth, forgive me. Let Your Holy Spirit enlighten me and bring clarity to Your Word. Reveal Jesus to me. Let me walk no longer in shadows, but in the brightness of Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Conclusion:
The veil is a real spiritual obstacle, but it is not permanent. Through Jesus, every veil can be lifted, and every eye can be opened. Let us pray with urgency — for ourselves and for others — that the light of Christ may shine where darkness has lingered too long.
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
— Psalm 119:130 (KJV)
