Prayers Against Spiritual Blindness

Vol. 2 — The Heart is the Root

“This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”
Mark 7:6 (KJV)

Narration & Exposition:

Spiritual blindness doesn’t begin with the eyes. It begins in the heart. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees not for a lack of scripture, but for a lack of sincerity. Their lips honored God, but their hearts remained far away. And when the heart is distant, the eyes of understanding close.

The root of spiritual blindness is not ignorance, but pride, rebellion, and apathy in the heart. People may sing in church, read scripture, and recite prayers — yet remain blind to God’s truth.

Significance:

This message enlightens believers to focus less on appearances and more on heart posture. When the heart aligns with God, spiritual sight returns. This volume encourages repentance, heart-checking prayer, and deep surrender. The song becomes an altar call — a cry to see not just with eyes, but with the soul.

Seven Verses & Interpretations:

  1. Mark 7:6Lip service is not heart surrender. Worship without intimacy results in blindness.

  2. Proverbs 4:23“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Everything flows from the heart — sight, speech, obedience. A blind heart misleads the whole life.

  3. Ezekiel 36:26“A new heart also will I give you… and I will take away the stony heart.”
God alone softens the hardened heart. Revival begins with replacement.

  4. Jeremiah 17:9“The heart is deceitful above all things…”
The human heart in its natural state is deceptive and leads to spiritual darkness.

  5. Psalm 51:10“Create in me a clean heart, O God…”
David recognized that sin blinds, and only a cleansed heart sees God clearly.

  6. Matthew 5:8“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Purity of heart brings spiritual vision.

  7. Ephesians 1:18“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened…”
The heart has eyes — and those eyes must be opened by God’s Spirit.
