“Dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High”
Deeper Life Blog Part 2 – Blog #1
Narration
There is a place where fear cannot enter, where anxiety loses its voice, and where the soul finds perfect peace. It is not a physical location, but a spiritual dwelling—the secret place of the Most High. This is the place where believers encounter God intimately, where His presence becomes their refuge and His voice becomes their guide. Many know about God, but few truly dwell with Him. To dwell means to remain, to abide, and to live continually in His presence.
The secret place is where strength is renewed, where clarity is restored, and where divine protection surrounds the believer.
Exposition
The foundation of this truth is revealed in Psalm 91:1:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
This verse does not promise protection to those who occasionally visit God, but to those who dwell with Him. Dwelling requires consistency. It is a daily lifestyle of prayer, worship, and surrender.
David confirms this in Psalm 27:5:
“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion.”
God becomes a refuge for those who remain close to Him. When storms arise, those who dwell in His presence are not shaken.
Jesus further explains this spiritual connection in John 15:4:
“Abide in me, and I in you.”
Abiding in Christ produces spiritual life, strength, and fruitfulness. Without abiding, believers become spiritually weak.
Interpretation
The secret place is not hidden from believers—it is entered through intentional relationship. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” God responds to those who seek Him sincerely.
In Isaiah 40:31, we are told, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Waiting in God’s presence restores what the world drains. Spiritual fatigue is replaced with divine energy.
God also becomes our personal protection. Psalm 32:7 says, “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble.” This preservation is not the absence of trouble, but divine covering through it.
The Apostle Paul reveals an even deeper truth in Colossians 3:3:
“Your life is hid with Christ in God.”
When believers dwell in God, their identity, strength, and security are rooted in Him—not in circumstances.
Preaching to Enlighten Believers
Beloved, the secret place is where transformation happens. It is where fear is replaced with faith, weakness is replaced with strength, and confusion is replaced with peace.
Do not live your Christian life from a distance. God is calling you closer. The deeper your intimacy with Him, the stronger your spiritual authority becomes.
The world cannot offer what the secret place provides. Money cannot replace it. Success cannot substitute it. Only God can sustain the soul.
When you dwell in His presence, He covers you. He guides you. He strengthens you. He protects you.
Make the secret place your permanent residence.
