Christ is the Rock Upon Which I Stand – Vol. 1: A Sure Foundation
By Pinnacle Message
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 3:11
Narration
The journey of life often feels like a shifting sea—waves of uncertainty crash upon our shores, and the winds of trials howl against our resolve. But in the midst of it all, there stands a Rock. Unmoved. Unshaken. Eternal. That Rock is Christ.
Imagine a weary traveler navigating through storms, deserts, and valleys. His feet falter on sinking sand and jagged terrain, until he finds rest on solid ground. There, beneath him, is the unchanging Rock of Ages—strong enough to uphold the weight of every burden, gentle enough to comfort the soul. He lifts his eyes and whispers, “Christ is the Rock upon which I stand.”
Exposition
In this first volume, we begin with the foundational truth: Jesus Christ is the immovable cornerstone of our faith.
-
Isaiah 28:16 – “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’”
This prophecy points to Jesus, the tested and trusted foundation. In Him, we find security from spiritual collapse. -
Psalm 18:2 – “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge…”
David did not just speak figuratively. He had known caves, danger, and enemies, but God had been his unbreakable defense. -
Matthew 7:24-25 – “Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock…”
Christ doesn’t promise us a storm-free life. He promises that if we stand on His Word, we will not fall.
Interpretation
Christ is not an idea; He is a Person—the Rock who has stood from eternity past to eternity future. When we build our life upon Him, we are not building on trends or emotions, but on eternal truth. He holds the weight of our calling, our failures, and our future without cracking. That is why Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 10:4, “…for they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.”
Teach to Enlighten
Let this be clear to every believer: the world offers pebbles of hope and stones of distraction, but only Christ is the Rock that sustains. Whether you’re facing hardship or new beginnings, do not place your faith in shifting sand. Anchor your soul in Christ—the unchanging One.
Ephesians 2:20 reminds us that our faith is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.”
So let us declare boldly:
Christ is the Rock upon which I stand—firm, faithful, and forever.
