Divine Protection – Volume 4: The Lord is My Keeper

By Pinnacle Message

Key Verse:

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.”
Psalm 121:5 (ESV)

Narration:

The pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem would sing the words of Psalm 121 as they ascended the hills. It was a declaration of trust, a song of reassurance that God was not only a deliverer in emergencies but a constant keeper of their souls. He watches. He guards. He keeps.

Protection isn’t just a momentary shield—it is the perpetual keeping of God. He is never distracted, never weary, never absent.

Exposition:

To be “kept” by the Lord means you are actively preserved, not passively ignored. The word “keeper” in Hebrew (“Shamar”) also means to hedge about, to guard, and to protect attentively.

Your journey, your purpose, your soul—He keeps them. Whether you walk by day or sleep by night, whether you climb or stumble, your life is in the grip of divine keeping.

Supporting Scriptures:

  1. Psalm 121:3-4“He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”

  2. Isaiah 27:3“I, the Lord, am its keeper; I water it every moment.”
    — God is not just a warrior—He is a gardener of souls.

  3. Jude 1:24“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling...”

  4. John 17:12“While I was with them, I kept them in your name...”
    — Jesus, the faithful keeper.

  5. Proverbs 2:8“He guards the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints.”

  6. 2 Timothy 1:12“He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”

  7. Numbers 6:24“The Lord bless you and keep you...”

Interpretation & Preaching:

Believer, take this to heart: you are not your own keeper. Your mind may forget to pray. Your strength may fail. But the Keeper of Israel does not forget, does not sleep, and does not lose track.

Even in moments of doubt, divine protection remains active. God is not reactive—He is proactive. The very air you breathe is a testimony of His preserving power.

Speak this into your day:
The Lord is my Keeper.
I am watched over by grace.
 My path is protected.

Call to Reflection:

As you rest tonight or rise tomorrow, let your spirit declare: “I am kept by the Lord.” Every hair on your head is numbered. Every step is observed. Every breath is precious to the One who watches.

Your life is not exposed to fate—it is enclosed in favor.
