God Is Working in the Silence
When Heaven Seems Quiet, but God Has Not Stopped Moving

Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”
There are seasons when prayer seems to rise toward heaven—and silence appears to come back.
You prayed for direction, but the road still looks uncertain.
You prayed for change, but everything appears the same.
You prayed for an open door, but no door has moved.
In moments like these, a difficult question can enter the heart:
“God, are You still working?”
Scripture gives us a powerful answer: Yes.
God's silence should never be confused with God's absence.
What You Cannot See May Still Be Growing
Consider Joseph.
God gave him a dream, but Joseph's journey toward that dream passed through betrayal, slavery, false accusation, and prison.
Imagine Joseph sitting in that prison.
The palace was nowhere in sight.
The promise seemed distant.
Yet God had not abandoned the story.
Genesis 39:21 tells us:
“But the Lord was with Joseph.”
That may be one of the most important truths for your quiet season.
The circumstances did not look like God's promise, but God was still present.
Then suddenly, the prisoner was summoned before Pharaoh. What appeared to have been years of silence became preparation for one extraordinary moment.
Silence Can Be a Workshop
We often want God to change our circumstances immediately.
But sometimes while we are asking God to change what is around us, He is developing something within us.
Patience.
Discernment.
Humility.
Endurance.
Trust.
David was anointed long before he became king. Moses spent years in Midian before returning to Egypt. Jesus lived approximately thirty years before beginning His public ministry.
Hidden seasons are not necessarily wasted seasons.
Isaiah 55:8–9 reminds us that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours.
You may not understand the process because you can only see today's chapter.
God sees the entire story.
Do Not Dig Up What You Planted in Prayer
A farmer does not plant seed on Monday and dig it up on Tuesday because nothing appeared above the soil.
He understands that something can be happening beneath the surface.
Prayer sometimes works like that.
You have planted the seed.
You have watered it with faith.
Now trust God with what you cannot see.
Galatians 6:9 declares:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Due season means there is a timing beyond our impatience.
God is not required to reveal every movement of His hand before asking us to trust His heart.
Be Still—but Stay Expectant
Psalm 46:10 does not tell us to become hopeless.
It tells us:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Biblical stillness is not surrendering to despair.
It is surrendering the need to control everything.
It is saying:
“Lord, I cannot see what You are doing, but I still know who You are.”
Romans 8:28 assures us that God works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
So when heaven seems quiet, keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep obeying.
Keep watching.
God may be doing some of His deepest work where your eyes cannot yet reach.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
When I cannot hear an answer, help me trust Your presence.
When I cannot see movement, help me believe You are still working.
Quiet the fear that tells me I have been forgotten.
Develop in me the patience, wisdom, faith, and character I need for what You are preparing.
I surrender my timetable to You.
Teach me to be still without becoming discouraged and to wait without losing expectation.
Even in the silence, I choose to believe:
You are here. You are faithful. And You are working.

God's silence is not proof of God's absence.
The seed beneath the soil looks invisible—but it is still alive.
The answer may not yet be visible.
The door may not yet be open.
The story may not yet make sense.
But God has not stopped moving.
Be still. Stay faithful. Keep believing.
