Strength to Keep Doing Good When No One Notices
Scripture Anchor — Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
There is a weariness that comes from repeatedly giving your best without seeing much response.
You check on someone who rarely checks on you. You serve faithfully while others receive the recognition. You pray for your family, carry responsibilities, and wonder whether your efforts are making any difference.
God’s Word speaks tenderly and directly to that tired place: do not grow weary in doing good.
Galatians 6:9 acknowledges that weariness can arise even while we are doing something worthwhile. Feeling tired does not mean your faith has failed. It may mean you need encouragement, rest, and renewed dependence on God.
Consider Ruth. When she went into the fields to gather grain, she was seeking food for herself and Naomi. Her work was practical and demanding. Yet Ruth 2:11 reveals that her care for Naomi had been noticed. Her faithful love mattered before she understood how the next chapter would unfold.
We cannot predict the outcome of every act of service. Some people may never thank us. Some changes may take years. But First Corinthians 15:58 assures believers that their labour in the Lord is not in vain.
That promise gives us a reason to continue without making recognition our source of strength.
Jesus also teaches us to examine why we serve. In Matthew 6:3–4, He describes giving that does not seek an audience. Our Father sees what others overlook. We can bring our need for appreciation honestly to Him while asking Him to keep our motives rooted in love.
Still, perseverance does not require ignoring exhaustion or carrying every burden alone. When Moses became overwhelmed, Jethro advised him to share the work with capable people. Exodus 18:17–23 reminds us that receiving help can make continued service possible.
Perhaps your next faithful step is to ask someone to assist you. Perhaps you need to restore time for sleep, prayer, or nourishment. God’s strength meets us as dependent people.
Isaiah 40:29 declares that He gives power to the faint. You do not have to manufacture endless energy. Bring Him your discouragement. Tell Him where resentment has begun to grow. Ask Him to renew both your strength and your willingness to love.
Then take the next step He gives you.
Continue the kindness. Make the honest choice. Offer the encouragement. Let God care for the results you cannot control.
Prayer
Lord, You see where I am tired. Renew my strength and guard my heart against bitterness. Help me serve from love, receive help with humility, and rest when I need to. Keep me faithful in the good You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today’s response: Bring one discouragement to God, then choose one manageable act of kindness you can offer freely.
