The Prayer That Offers Your Everyday Life to God
Scripture Anchor — Romans 12:1 (KJV)
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
We readily invite God into an emergency. When the answer is urgent and our strength runs low, prayer often comes quickly.
But Romans 12:1 invites us to offer Him something more comprehensive: our everyday lives.
Because of God’s mercy, we can bring Him our bodies, schedules, habits, conversations, and decisions. Worship reaches into how we spend our time, respond to frustration, care for others, and conduct our work.
The day ahead may contain familiar duties. Yet each one presents a place to practise surrender.
A Prayer of Everyday Surrender
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the mercy that welcomes me through Jesus Christ. I come before You with gratitude for another day and another opportunity to walk with You.
Today, I offer You my everyday life.
I give You my mind. Romans 12:2 teaches me to be transformed through its renewing. Shape my thinking through Your Word. Help me recognize thoughts that feed pride, resentment, or fear, and teach me to dwell on what is true and worthy.
I give You my words. Psalm 141:3 asks You to keep watch over the mouth. Help me pause before speaking in anger. Give me courage to tell the truth, humility to apologize, and kindness toward those whose struggles I do not understand.
I give You my work. Whether my responsibilities are public or private, help me carry them with integrity. As Colossians 3:23 teaches, let me work heartily unto You. Keep me from carelessness, dishonesty, and the constant need to impress.
I give You my relationships. James 1:19 calls me to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. Make me attentive to the people beside me. Show me where forgiveness is needed and where a loving, honest conversation should begin.
I give You my plans. Proverbs 16:9 reminds me that while I make plans, You direct my steps. Help me prepare responsibly and remain willing to follow Your guidance. When interruptions come, give me discernment to recognize what deserves my attention.
I give You my limitations. Teach me to ask for help without shame and to rest without believing I must earn Your love. When I fall short, lead me to repentance and renewed obedience.
Lord Jesus, help me abide in You. In John 15:5, You teach that apart from You I can do nothing. Let my service grow from fellowship with You. Nourish my heart so that patience, generosity, and faithfulness can bear fruit.
Receive this day, Father: its work and rest, its conversations and quiet moments. Let my life point others toward Your goodness.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today’s response: Before your next task, pray: “Lord, help me honour You in what I am about to do
