Monday — Wisdom

When God Invites You to Be Teachable

Scripture Anchor — Psalm 25:4–5 (KJV)
“Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

There is wisdom in knowing when to speak, but there is also wisdom in being willing to learn.

As a new week begins, we may already have plans, expectations, and opinions about how things should unfold. Yet walking with God requires a heart that remains open to His instruction. Sometimes the prayer we need most is simple: “Lord, teach me.”

David’s words in Psalm 25 reveal a humble dependence on God. He asks to be shown, taught, and led. He understands that knowing God’s way requires more than confidence in his own judgment.

We need that same humility. Familiarity can make us stop listening. Disappointment can make us resist correction. Even past success can persuade us that we already know enough. But a teachable heart gives God room to address what we have overlooked.

His instruction may come through a passage of Scripture that challenges our attitude. It may come through wise counsel, an honest conversation, or the quiet recognition that we owe someone an apology. Receiving that instruction can be uncomfortable, especially when it asks us to change.

Yet correction received with humility can become a gift. It can spare us unnecessary conflict, deepen our understanding, and help us serve others with greater care.

This week, bring your plans before God with open hands. Ask Him to examine your motives as well as your decisions. When His Word challenges you, take time to listen and respond.

You do not have to understand everything today. You can begin by being willing to learn.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me a teachable heart. Help me recognize where pride, fear, or habit has made me resistant to Your instruction. Lead me through Your Word, and give me humility to receive wise counsel. Show me what needs to change, and help me obey with a willing spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Faith Declaration
By God’s grace, I will remain willing to learn, receive correction, and follow His truth.

Today’s Step
Read Psalm 25:4–5 slowly. Identify one area where you need God’s guidance, and ask Him to teach you before you make your next decision.
