Sunday Encounter #9

Walking by Faith — Trusting God Without Seeing the Outcome

There is a kind of faith that only reveals itself… when you cannot see the way forward.

Not when everything is clear.
Not when the path is predictable.
But when the next step is uncertain—and yet, you move anyway.

Narratively, imagine standing at the beginning of a road that disappears into fog. You know you are meant to move forward, but you cannot see what lies ahead. Every instinct wants clarity before action. Every thought asks for proof before movement.

But faith does not always wait for visibility.

It responds to trust.

In the Bible, we are told, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). This is not a suggestion—it is a principle of spiritual living. It means that your direction is not determined by what you see—but by who you trust.

Interpretively, walking by faith is not blind—it is guided. It is choosing to move based on God’s character, not just your circumstances. It is believing that even when the path is unclear, the One leading you is not.

And this is where many hesitate.

Because walking by sight feels safer.

Sight gives control.
Sight gives predictability.
Sight gives immediate assurance.

But faith requires surrender.

It asks you to trust God beyond what you can measure. To step forward even when the outcome is not guaranteed by what you see. To believe that what God has spoken holds more weight than what your eyes perceive.

Consider Abraham. He was called to go to a place he had never seen. No map. No clear destination. Just a promise. And yet, he moved.

This is the second revelation: faith moves before it fully understands.

Expositionally, walking by faith produces three powerful results:

  • Clarity over time
You may not see everything at once—but each step reveals more.
  • Growth in trust
Your confidence shifts from yourself to God.
  • Alignment with purpose
Faith leads you into what God has prepared, not just what you expect.

This means uncertainty is not a sign to stop.

It is an invitation to trust deeper.

So what should you do when you cannot see the outcome?

Take the next step.

Not ten steps. Not the whole journey. Just the next one.

Because faith is not about having the full picture—it is about obeying what you know.

Trust what God has already shown you.
Move in what He has already spoken.

And as you walk, something begins to change:

Fear loses its hold.
Confidence begins to rise.
Peace replaces hesitation.

Because you realize something powerful:

You were never meant to control the outcome—
you were meant to trust the One who holds it.

And when you walk by faith…
even without seeing…

you will always be moving in the right direction.
